I'll Work With It

I've made this pattern 3 times:
blue/white stripe stretch cotton-french cuffs
pink/black stripe stretch cotton-french cuffs
lavender silk noil-hemmed cuffs (after shortening sleeves & doing horizontal petite adjustment)

This is a Butterick design custom-drafted version by Unique. In my opinion, it didn't fit very well for a custom draft and I'd decided to leave it forever and move on.

But.....I wear these 3 shirts. I wear the lavender most often because it fits better than the other 2 and it doesn't have pesky french cuffs.

So, while still believe I had to do too many alterations for what I paid for the custom draft, I'm going to work with this pattern some more. After altering the 'custom' draft it fits perfectly in the back, bust, waist and hips, and the back of the collar lays correctly. It still needs work from armscye to shoulder, and the horizontal bust dart needs to be lowered

Here's the list of specific alterations that stand between me and a perfect fit:
  • Lower the horizontal bust dart
  • Sloped shoulders
  • Narrow chest
  • Narrow shoulders
  • Remove some ease from sleeve cap
Having this basic darted blouse pattern as a tried 'n true pattern would a real accomplishment.
